Goal and results
Designed a mobile app to support retailers and small businesses to read QR and bar codes. The app was also expanded to include other user groups who would benefit from the QR/Bar code reader features e.g., users who want to compare a product price or find an online shop when having only the product or its package with a bar code printed on it.
With 100.000 downloads and 4.7 stars, this app has demonstrated its real value to its users. It allows one to read, but also to save and manage the codes on the phone. Through user analysis, it was also identified many improvements e.g., for users having the means to export the codes was as important as reading them. Therefore, a feature to export the codes in different formats was included in the application.
The app was optimized for both landscape and portrait modes because some barcodes are wide; thus, users have to rotate the phone to be able to scan those codes properly.
